The Omnicell VBM Robotic System
Our newly installed Omnicell VBM machine automates our blister pack creation, increasing efficiency, capacity, and clinical safety. Failure to stick to the right dose of medicine at the right time can have a long-term impact on a patient's health and add to an already overburdened NHS. However, with our blister packs, we can support you if you struggle to take the right medication at the right time—even if you have a complex medication regimen.
How It Works
The Omnicell VBM machine identifies and certifies medication based on size, shape, and colour. It accommodates over 200 different medications on the machine, so you can be assured that no matter what your prescription requires, the Omnicell VBM machine will have it sorted.
The machine also features a verification function so that all tablets loaded into it are barcoded and scanned for markings. The trays are imaged when they are dispensed in order to ensure absolute accuracy. The new packs feature clear photos of each tablet as well as markings, and can even incorporate patient photos. The entire filling and packing process is strictly overseen by our qualified team of expert dispensers and pharmacists, so you can be assured your medications are placed exactly how you want them.

For patients whose medical conditions require structured dosing support under the NHS framework, our automated blister pack assembly is provided completely free of charge alongside your standard prescription processing.
The Omnicell VBM safely accommodates over 200 standard solid oral tablets and capsules. However, liquid oral solutions, topical creams, injections, and highly moisture-sensitive medications must continue to be dispensed in their original packaging.
